In 2011, as the day was coming to a close, owner Steve Tubbs and his daughter Tess, were enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch. Together they mused about a stand alone unit, which could put everyday items within the reach of those using a wheelchair. It would be a piece of furniture that could become a workstation, a kitchen or an office instantly. It would need to be portable so the user could take it with them anywhere they lived. It would also need to be fully customizable to fit the user's tastes and meet all of their size requirements. It seemed like such a wonderful idea and a much needed device. But at the time seemed like just that - a wonderful idea.
But then three years later, after much planning and a great deal of trial and error, using a 5' x 7' CNC built by Steve and his sons, Nathan and Seth, the Easy Reach was built! While Innovate Freedom Cabinetry grew out of a need for accessiblity in the kitchen, we see the usefullness of this product throughout the home. It can also be useful in the workplace as this cuts down on company costs to remodel an office space while giving the employee the accessiblity to do their job well.
Owner, Steve, has worked closely with his daughter, Tess, to create this flagship product. Because she is a wheelchair user she understands how vital it is to create workspaces free of accessiblility issues. Having a remodeled kitchen has revolutionized her life. In her kitchen space you will find two Easy Reach cabinets. All countertops are 27" high. No longer does she need to make poor diet choices because of an inaccessible kitchen. Tess has noticed her health and stamina has greatly improved thanks to the ease that the Easy Reach affords to her.
Our vision has always been to help those who either cannot afford to remodel their home or who live in an apartment, which cannot be remodeled to meet their needs.
